As we close off 2017 and look forward to 2018 I wonder if you are planning on making any changes to your business?

The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting the same results.

Many business owners are unhappy with their businesses but don’t know what to do about it or who to turn to for help. Accepting help is not easy but its the first step in putting things right.

There are many scenarios where you may need to accept help:

  1. The business is not profitable
  2. You are running out of cash
  3. Your employees are earning more than you from the business
  4. You have fallen out with the business and no longer enjoying running it
  5. Things are hectic, disorganised and generally are tough
  6. You are losing customers or provide a bad service but wish you didn’t
  7. You want to grow but fear that the business isn’t ready to grow

Tony Robbins says that change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.

So just how bad does it need to get before you will seek out some help to make a difference to your business. Some business owners put up with far too much pain before reaching out and some leave it too late when little can be done.

What help is there out there?

The first step is to decide you want to change and commit to making a change. The first thing I recommend is to start reading and listening (Visit Audible.com) to books, around the subject of business.  Become well informed on the theory of running a business.

Unsurprisingly, I recommend The Organised Business as a good place to start. (See our almost free book offer here https://www.theorganisedbusiness.co.uk/free-book/)

This book will give you a good insight into how Organising a key few areas will make a massive difference to your business.

It’s ideal for the business owner who wants more from their business.

More Money, More Freedom and More Time.

Don’t stop there though there are many good books here are five must-reads,

  1. Good to Great – James Collins
  2. The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
  3. Rich Dad Poor Dad – Dane Maxell
  4. The Lean Start Up – Eric Ries
  5. Four Hour Work Week – Timothy Ferriss

Next, consider getting a coach or attending a training course such as The Foundations Programme

The Foundations Programme is a unique step by step programme aimed at small businesses owners. The programme follows the idea set out in the book The Organised Business and takes you on a journey to help you realise the full potential of your business.

The programme is made up of 5 modules based at our purpose-built training suite in Maidstone. Each module is a mixture of theory and practical action. For example, on Module 1 you will not only learn the importance of a Vision for your business but will leave the programme with a documented Vision and an action plan on how to achieve it.

So are you going to do things differently in 2018?

You only get one life and if you aren’t enjoying your work and the business then its time to make a change and try something different.

You are responsible for your business and if it isn’t giving you what you want then change it.
